Shown here: Profiled Model IX ready for handles, resting on finished Model IX's in Green Canvas, Black Canvas, Turquoise Canvas, Red Linen, Red/Black Linen Micartas.
I began cranking out my Model IX's in late October of 2006.
After the idea of a Maker's Choice knife for a hundred bucks, I came up with the Model IX as a no-nonsense, all-purpose knife that anyone could afford.
Some have evolved into a more intricate, involved design, but all carry the same basic shape of an idea. They have been made in 4 different sizes, 4 different blade steels, and at least 7 different handle materials. Almost every change or alteration was due to a customer's request. Here's an excerpt of what one of my customers had to say about the Model IX's...
"The scales are matched exquisitely in every detail including length, width, thickness and grain pattern. The handle itself is nice and chunky and is a full four inches in length. Its perfectly proportional scales fits around its indestructible full tang construction super snug making this a handle fit for a mans size paw, and is not one of those skimpy and skinny hard to hold handles you get with some customs.
Second, the grind on this blade is as sweet and as uniform as any I have seen including my very high end customs..."
